Alan was invited by his friend Tony Alex (that's him) to join him and some friends on a fly fishing trip on the Deschutes River in Oregon. Not having ever done fly fishing (or any kind of fishing, for that matter), I was nervous. I borrowed equipment from my brother-in-law, Steve Dykes, and practiced a bit. However, there wasn't much time between the invitation and the trip to get much practice in. Turned out to be a wonderful, fun trip with a bunch of great guys!
