We spent the first day on a walking tour of New Town, Old Town and the Jewish Quarter. New Town dates from the 1800s while Old Town dates from the 1200s. Prague is much older but that area is on the other side of the Vitava River. The Jewish Quarter is part of Old Town. Our guide was Eva who was born and raised in Prague and lived through the Russian Regime and its fall in the Velvet Revolution in 1989. She had intriguing stories to tell of her experiences during and after the revolution. This is one of the gates into the city built in the 15th century. It is called the Powder Gate because it was used to store gunpowder.
