This is the oven/fireplace/furnace in the main room of the farmhouse. My grandmother, Sadie Schaevitz, used to tell me stories of her home as a little girl in Russia. She said that they would sleep on the hearth in the winter for warmth. Here is a perfect replica of that situation! I have to say it choked me up a bit.
